Egyptian Influence on Today's WorldThe ancient Egyptians should really be thanked for all they have given us. They were one of the first civilizations to use of the science, math and medical uses. Egyptians were the first people to figure out how to make bread rise by adding yeast to the dough. Our alphabet today which is made up of 26 letters is said to have been influenced by the Egyptian hieroglyphs, which used 24 symbols for consonants along with many other symbols. They also invented many everyday things like scissors, combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, plus the lock and key, the weaving loom, drums, and the first oil lamps.
Also we can now thank the Egyptians when we have no power and play monopoly all day, they invented board games with pieces and dice were played, and drama possibly showed up in the Egyptians' daily life. Finally the world calendar with 365 day calendar probably has its origins in ancient Egypt. The Egyptians figured out a 360 day calendar based on the various religious festivals and feasts throughout the year. They also split the year into 12 months. Ancient These are not all the things that the Egyptians have done but only some. If it was not for the Egyptians, we would not have about half the things we have today. |
